Week 74

This was my first week working in the office, my new responsibilities are a lot. my new companion is elder Tripp from my group, he is a stud, glad to be working with him :) we live above the bishop storehouse, there is air conditioning in our house, and light 24-7. glad about that! However, i am super tired right now...

we spend most of our time giving follow up to the zone leaders on how the people with baptismal dates in the zone are doing, running errands so people can get married, taking people to the doctor, managing the money of the mission, receiving and paying for mail, making reports to send to the area 70, preparing meetings and conferences with the zones and stakes. we meet with the stake president and president corbitt of every stake, every month, super cool, and proselyting during the evening.

i drive a hyundai van that is manual, or stick shift, super cool, im learning how to not jerk the car around... hahaha, we have to give permission for tons of stuff, if an elder needs to leave his zone. im super humbled, because really dont know much yet, however, i did have an interesting experience taking an elder to the airport for the first time, he was brazillian and need to go home on emergency... elder tripp and i drove him to the airport after picking him up and it was my job to get in, check him in, get his baggage taken care of and pay for his migration fees. the Lord helped me know what to do, cause i had know idea what i was going to do before getting there! hahaha

Elder Lopez is doing well, they have 10 people with baptismal dates now, sad i am not going to get to be there for those, but its cool to see him take off on his own, super stud!

anyways, loving it, learning tons, still getting used to the new assignment.

love you all lots!

getting ready for christmas! ;) hahaha

Week 73

so this week was a good one, we had a zone conference with the 1st counselor of the area 70, Elder Claudio Zivic, really good conference learned tons, enjoyed listening to one of the Lords servants here on earth.

big news though, during the conference, in a meeting we were having with the Leaders of the mission, including elder Zivic, president pulled me aside during one of the breaks and asked if i had been keeping my covenants and if I had been keeping myself Worthy, and i said i had been, then he told me my transfer early, that he has called me to be one of his assistants next transfer.
good news is that i will have an amazing experience learning from President Corbitt, and getting even MORE lost in the mission work, bad news is, i wont be sleeping much, and i will have to drive in the crazy dominican streets! hahaha pray for me please...

my companion will be elder Tripp from my MTC group, he is a stud and i am stoked to work with him!

really do feel humbled for the calling, i feel like my living mother working a new job, i am nervous i will feel dumb, but thats part of learning, im excited to learn and grow!

as far as the work goes, the ward had 3 more baptisms this week and one of the kids, named david asked that i baptize him, the other elders taught him, but he said that he wanted the same person to baptize him that baptized the others the previous sundays, cool kid, cool day!

also this lady in the ward asked me to play a christmas song for her to sing, and so last minute i made a sweet mashup of silent night and the first noel, turned out super well, the stake president was there for the meeting and under his power as stake president he specially asked that we repeat the song for the closing him, hahaha way cool, we did it twice, the ward loved it! feel free to mess with the arrangement dad! ;)

anyways, there is a little update on my life as a missionary, love you all, hope all is well back home and that you arent too cold with that wintery weather ;)

until next week,

Week 72

great week, missed you all for thanksgiving, we went to el olé and ate a lot though in memory of the big turkey day, although there was nothing of american food, not even pie, kinda a bummer, oh well.

we had the confirmations of daury and Jenny, and the baptisms of daury´s step brother Francisco and one of his friends Ana Elis! francisco had been waiting to recieve his answer and after seeing his step brother take the step he also decided that he was ready, super awesome! daury is a stud as well, he left with us this sunday to visit people in the nieghborhood, he has given out pamphlets and is talking to his friends about the church, he is already a stud missionary!

its been a little more on the chilly side here in the DR, not like snow in Utah, but you wake up in the morning and you wanna put on a jacket, so i guess its partially winter right? a couple mornings because of the cold, i dont like cold showers, so i boiled a pot of hot water and mixed it with a bucket of water and bathed with that, i know i am kinda a wuss, but it felt sooooooo good! hahaha

we had ward counsel, the branch president told us he hopes that me and elder Lopez stay one transfer more, idk if that will happen, but if it does, i wont complain, it would be awesome to pass christmas here in valiente, its a great area!

missing you guys and the holidays, but the good news is that its the last time we are away from eachother for christmas! cant wait to be back and help decorate the tree and all :) know that my christmas spirit is there, love you all and hope you stay warm! hahaha

until next week,
