Week 65

The Hurricane this week didnt even touch us, a little rain is all, really lucky i guess, we are all praying for Haiti, lot of interesting questions coming out of that, great way to preach the plan of salvation...

we are all good, still no water or light, but it should get fixed soon ;) hahah

dont have tons of time this week, but i do want to share one cool spiritual experience,
We contacted a family a while back named the family Rodriguez, they are way cool, the wife is looking for a new church because of things that she didnt like in her old one, and the husband is battling terminal cancer because of 45 years of smoking, the gospel is gonna bless their life. the wife, patricia, told us about a dream she had about he and her husband, she told us about how they were dressed all in white and were in this big stretch of grass, with palm trees and lots of flowers, and they wanted to go over to the other side, but her husband said that it wasnt time yet, in the dream she said she felt so happy, and wanted to know if that was heaven, thinking to what i should say to that, i took out of picture i have of the DR temple and showed it to her, it has a huge lawn of grass, tons of palm trees and flowers, and i said, the people that enter in there dress in white, it is a place where the family can be together forever! the spirit was so strong, we are going to go back and teach them again tonight!

apart from that, we preached in the rain on tuesday, that was fun, and wet. i cooked lunch, dominican food you guys will like to eat when i get back! and we visited candida from la LLave, super cool, elder beard and ramos went as well, fun p day today!

all is well here, sorry for the brief letter, love you all tons, talk next week!

Week 64

good week, this was my letter to Pres Corbitt

President Corbitt,

this was a good week, because it was conference, and we had two families show up as well, made my whole week. however we had 5 baptismal dates fall for the white night, because they didnt assist, kind of a bummer, we will see if they have a desire to progress. also continually seeking for new people prepared, elder Lopez is great at contacting, has no fear whatsoever. i love that about him. i meditated during the conference on what i was going to do to improve, and i think my favorite talk was by elder J devn. Cornish, super cool to hear him, i actually ask myself often that question, if I will make it, and the answer is yes! if i continue enduring to the end and repenting, loved that, im going to try to repent daily in the mistakes i may make throughout the day, we are hoping for the Lord´s miracles this month, we are going to need his help to baptize.

all is well, we have been going 2 weeks now without light or running water in the house though, makes me appreciate the little things more... haha talk next week!

anyways, things are progressing, i sent pics of the english class im teachin in the church, super fun!

conference was great, got to watch it on saturday in english, but sunday in spanish, there wasnt enough internet power to watch two at once. so elder frampton and i had to watch in spanish. not really the same, but at least i understood better than a year ago with elder areas when i watched it in spanish! haha the crazy thing was that i saw Rachael Barrowes singing in the choir, took a pic, cool to see a familiar face! haha

the hurricane isnt terrible, just a lot of rain, but we are good, the only bad thing is not light, i have had to wash my clothes by hand, super cool.

we have three families that are progressing right now, the Rodriguez family, Christian and Anabel, and 3 brothers and sisters who came to the conference, emilio, and evelyn(s) they are both named like that... we are getting to know them a lot better and are glad that they are progressing, hopefully by the end of this month we have a couple baptisms in our far off in the woods area ;) haha

the other big news is that we have recieved about 10 avacados from nieghbors, one of which is bigger than the book of mormon! haha (see pic) living in the woods has its benefits...

over all, great week, feeling healthy, happy, and hot, the humidity never gives in hear...

love you all hope you are all doing well,

special shout out to my sis and the ridge soccer team, hope you are feeling alright cambrie, by the time i get home you will still be able to kick my trash ;) love you all!

until next week!

ELDER AUGER

the english class i teach in the church, sorry i dont have time for more pics, my camera is super slow, i will try to send more next week! love you all

Dear Brother and Sister Auger: I am a senior missionary living in Santo Domingo and meet with your son each Saturday as he teaches English to students in a little branch in Valiente.  I want to thank you for raising such a fine young man. He and his Dominican comp walk 35 minutes each way and are always on time whereas the other American Elders who live closer to the branch are always very late. Your son is an example to all of us. He never complains and he loves these people. We are so thankful that you have raised such a fine young man. I would. I would be honored to stake my professional reputation built over 35 years upon him.

Week 63

this week has made me miss the USA more than ever i think,

lets say that i have been living the last 5 days without electricity and without running water... makes you appreciate the little things that you use every day. #bucket showers

also means we havent had fans either, been super hot, we sleep on the back porch, too hot inside...
however it has been a great week in the work, various people telling us that our message brings them peace and understanding, we are meeting tons of people every day, a couple families that might progress, they have cars so they can drive to church, walking is like a half an hour or more!

elder lopez is teaching me more of the dominican ways, we spent 200 pesos, which is like 4 and a half dollars to buy 100 green bananas, and 30 plantains, learning how to cook more dominican food and do it cheaply, also found some coconut and elder lopez knocked it down and we ate it natural, super delish! he is learning and teaching, great trainee!

i realized the importantance of the spirit, which teaches us what we should do, motivates us to act, we have been inviting many people to prepare to be baptized next month, and the few that have accepted were the few that could feel the spirit, i like my area because its a little more out in the country, and there is not as much noise, i think the spirit is stronger in places like that...

anyways, not much more to say, all is well, loving the work, miss you all, and hope you know as i do, that this church is true. be safe and have a good week!

Week 62

huge week, little time, we will see how fast i can explain it all!

so i recieved my kid... or more like my dad, he is a dominican named Elder Lopez from barahona, and he is literally like my dad, he is 6"4 and like 230 lbs, monster, 26 years old, convert of a year and a half ago. he was a pentacostal for 5 years, and now he is mormon! he is super excited to learn, however its a little wierd that he is so old, i feel like im not really supposed to be training him...

our area is valiente "c" or to say that there are 6 missionaries in this ward due to an english class this ward offers, more than 200 people come every week and we hold the class in the church, so i showed up this saturday morning to a class of like 25 kids to teach english, pretty interesting... also we teach english in a public school, another class of 30 kids, im teaching tons of english which is pretty interesting, and fun! really makes me feel good to be able to speak two languages!

our area is the very far part of the ward, 30 mins walking from the chapel, which puts us out in the country part of the area, i feel like our house is in a cabin in the woods, pretty dope actually! we live on the same street as a pentocostal and adventist church, it will be interesting to see how many people we can get to walk 30 mins to church every sunday. i have the Faith though :)

im feeling at the peak of my mission, contacting tons, 6 hours a day, getting to know the area, seeing who can progress and who the Lord is preparing to recieve this restored gospel!

other than that not much to say, i never see the ocean here sadly, but i like the country side anyways, feels a little like south weber ;) haha

quick shout out to my grandparents that have and are moving, love you guys!

also to my cousin Zander, love you buddy, your in my prayers, i know everything will go well with the surgery!

love you all tons, talk to you next week!
